The Power 105 has been a staple of New York City hip-hop radio for decades, and its annual Powerhouse concerts have long been a mainstay in the genre. From Xzibit, Ludacris and Ja Rule in 2001 to Drake, Rick Ross and Trey Songz in 2011, the show has always offered up major artists giving it their all for an enthusiastic audience. Now the station, owned by iHeartMedia, is adding to its legacy with a new single-sided power meter. The third iteration of 4iiii’s Precision range, the Power 105 is a single-sided unit that can be fitted to both 105 and Dura Ace cranksets. It’s among the cheapest power meters on the market, but it’s also one of the lightest and most accurate. For those interested in training with power for the first time or expanding their stable of units, the Power 105 is a great choice. But the 105’s biggest draw is its ability to read both the left and right cranks, allowing you to get a more accurate picture of your pedalling asymmetry. While it’s not going to be as precise as a dual-sided unit, it will still give you a more complete picture of your overall performance and can help you spot specific weaknesses. The 105’s larger head size means it delivers both power and control for intermediate players, and its light frame is designed to make every shot feel effortless. It’s the lightest racket in the Ultra recreation line at 9.7 ounces strung and features an enlarged sweet spot to aid consistency. Yonex adds multiple tech improvements to the 105 for 2020, including M40X in the throat layup and improved flex in the handle. In addition, it’s encased in Vibration Dampening Mesh and includes Liner Tech grommets to reduce string on frame friction.
